About Wat Salak Phet
Ko Chang isn't a temple island, so temper your expectations. But if you want to see a wat while you're here, this is the one, one of the oldest and most significant on the island, tucked away in the quiet Salak Phet community in the southeast.
It's a genuine local temple, not a polished tourist attraction, and that's the appeal. It feels lived-in and real rather than staged. Come with modest expectations and you won't be disappointed.
As with any temple, dress respectfully and keep it low-key. Mornings are cooler and quieter.
