About Kai Bae Beach (Hat Kai Bae)

Kai Bae is the sweet spot between busy and quiet on the west coast. The real draw is the little cluster of islets just offshore that you can wade or kayak out to when the tide drops. Add solid sunset views and a laid-back atmosphere and it earns its fans.

Be aware that some sections get narrow and rocky at high tide, so the swimming isn't uniformly great along the whole strip. Pick your spot and time it with the tide.

If you can't decide between the developed north and the sleepy south, this middle ground works well.

Highlights

  • Small offshore islets reachable on foot or by kayak at low tide
  • Good sunset views
  • Relaxed middle-ground atmosphere
  • Nearby viewpoint just up the road

Tips

  • Head out to the islets at low tide by wading or kayak
  • Some sections turn narrow and rocky at high tide, so choose your spot
  • Sunset is the best time for the offshore island views
  • Dry season, roughly Nov-Apr, gives the calmest water

How to get there

West coast, about 20-25 min by shared songthaew from the northern ferry piers (roughly 80-100 THB). On the main road just south of Klong Prao.
