About Lonely Beach (Hat Tha Nam)

Despite the name, this is anything but lonely. It's the island's backpacker and party hub, pretty and chilled during the day and lively once the bars fire up at night. If you're here for a social scene and late nights, this is where you want to be.

One real safety note: the water has strong currents and a steep drop-off in parts, so swim with care and don't assume it's a gentle paddle everywhere.

Great if nightlife is the goal. If you're chasing quiet, this is the one to skip.

Highlights

  • The island's main backpacker and party beach
  • Pretty and relaxed by day
  • Buzzing bar scene at night
  • Last main beach before the road heads inland to Bang Bao

Tips

  • Swim with care, there are strong currents and a steep drop-off in places
  • Come by day for the beach, stay into the evening for the nightlife
  • Skip it if you're after peace and quiet
  • Dry season, roughly Nov-Apr, is the best window

How to get there

Southwest coast, about 30 min by shared songthaew from the northern ferry piers (roughly 100-120 THB). Last main beach before the road turns inland toward Bang Bao.
