About Ton Sai Beach (Railay)
Ton Sai is the scruffy, bohemian cousin of the Railay beaches, and that is the whole point. People come for the climbing crags, the cheap bungalows, and a low-key backpacker scene, not for perfect sand.
Be clear-eyed about the beach itself: it is rocky and muddy at low tide and not great for swimming. If you are chasing turquoise swimming water, West Railay or Phra Nang are the move.
Stay if the relaxed, climbing-focused vibe is what you are after. You can reach it by longtail or walk over the headland from West Railay at low tide.
Highlights
- Laid-back backpacker and climbing scene
- Cheap bungalows near the crags
- Low-tide headland walk over from West Railay
- World-class limestone climbing routes
Tips
- Come for the climbing and vibe, not the swimming
- The beach turns rocky and muddy at low tide
- Walk over from West Railay at low tide, or take a longtail
- For clear swimming water, head to Phra Nang or West Railay
How to get there
Longtail from Ao Nang ~15 min (~150 THB) or walk over the headland from West Railay at low tide
