About Surin Islands (Mu Ko Surin National Park)
If the Similans are the headline act, the Surins are the quiet favourite. Fewer crowds, less development, and shallow reefs that are honestly some of the best snorkeling in the country. The water is warm and clear and you barely have to swim to see plenty. For snorkelers rather than divers, a lot of people end up preferring these islands.
There is also a genuine Moken sea-gypsy community here, which gives the place a sense of it being lived-in rather than staged. Treat any visit to the village respectfully.
The trade-off is that facilities are basic. This is not a resort island, so come prepared, and remember the park closes for the monsoon like its neighbours.
