If your trip overlaps a Sunday, plan around this one. Lard Yai closes historic Thalang Road to traffic and fills the Sino-Portuguese shophouse strip with street food, crafts and live music. It has the best atmosphere in Old Town.
Honestly, the setting itself is half the draw, those pastel heritage shophouses lit up in the evening. The food and stalls are the other half.
It's busy and touristy, no question, but it's fun and it only happens once a week, so it's worth timing your visit for it.
