About Pattaya Beach
Pattaya Beach is the city's crescent-shaped main strip, running the length of Beach Road with water sports, vendors and a busy promenade. It's convenient and lively, right on your doorstep if you're staying central, and good for a stroll and some people-watching.
I'll be straight with you though. The water quality and cleanliness are mediocre, and the whole strip is crowded and party-oriented. This is a beach to walk along, not one you'll want to swim at if you have better options nearby.
Come early in the morning for a quiet walk before the crowds and touts get going, and stick to the November to March dry season. For actual swimming, head to Jomtien instead.
