About Erawan Museum
You spot this one from a distance: a colossal three-headed bronze elephant standing atop an ornate temple-museum. It's surreal and photogenic from the outside, but the real surprise is inside, where a dazzling world of stained glass and mosaic opens up.
The highlight is the staircase that climbs up inside the elephant itself, an odd and memorable bit of design that's the reason people come. It's underrated and, best of all, easy to reach on the BTS, so it doesn't require the effort a lot of Bangkok's outlying sights do.
It shares an owner with the nearby Ancient City, so the two pair naturally into a single Samut Prakan outing. Do this one in the morning and move on.
