About Silver Beach (Crystal Bay)
Small but special. This sheltered cove between Chaweng and Lamai is one of the prettiest little beaches on the island: fine white sand, big granite boulders framing each end, and water clear enough to make the shore snorkelling actually worthwhile.
Because it's compact and well known, it fills up. Get there early and you'll have calm, clear water and room to spread out; roll in midday and you'll be jostling for space with parking that gets tight fast.
Bring a mask and go in the morning before the day-trippers arrive. It's an easy, short hop from Chaweng, so there's no excuse not to beat the crowds.
Highlights
- Sheltered cove of fine white sand
- Granite boulders framing the bay
- Unusually clear water
- Decent snorkelling straight off the shore
Tips
- Go early for the clearest water and quiet sand
- Bring a mask for the shore snorkelling
- Parking is tight, so arriving early helps twice over
- Only 10–15 min from Chaweng, an easy morning trip
How to get there
About 10–15 min by scooter/taxi south from Chaweng, in a small cove off the ring road between Chaweng Noi and Lamai
