About Safari World Bangkok

I'll flag this one honestly. Safari World is a large drive-through safari park paired with a marine park on the edge of Bangkok. The drive-through safari section itself is decent, where you see animals in larger open areas from your vehicle, and families do enjoy that part.

The problem is the shows. The marine and animal performances here, dolphins, orangutan boxing, sea lions, draw serious welfare criticism, and for good reason. If the ethics of animal performances matter to you at all, this is worth thinking hard about before you go.

My honest steer: if you do visit, you can skip the shows and stick to the drive-through, or better yet choose somewhere like ElephantsWorld or Khao Kheow Open Zoo instead, both of which sit better on the ethics front.

Highlights

  • A drive-through safari section in open enclosures
  • A full day out for families
  • Larger open areas viewed from your vehicle
  • On the outskirts of Bangkok

Tips

  • The animal and marine shows draw serious welfare criticism, skip them
  • Consider ElephantsWorld or Khao Kheow instead if ethics matter to you
  • Come on a weekday morning to beat crowds and heat
  • No direct rail, so plan for a taxi or Grab out there

How to get there

North-east Bangkok; ~45-60 min by taxi/Grab from the centre (no direct rail).
