Mon Cham is a hilltop royal-project site with terraced flower gardens, a cluster of cafes, and genuinely panoramic valley views, and it's worth the trip. It's also one of those places that's become a victim of its own popularity: expect crowds, especially around sunrise, and mist that can roll in and block the view entirely.
The ridge itself is free to visit, though small charges pop up for parking, specific activities, or camping if you want to stay overnight. There's no public transport, and the final stretch of road up is steep enough that a 4WD or a strong scooter is genuinely advised rather than optional.
Cool season is when the flowers and the mist both look their best, and a lot of people time their visit for sunrise. Just know you won't be alone if you do.
