About John-Suwan Viewpoint
John-Suwan is arguably the best land viewpoint on Koh Tao. The rocky summit on the southern tip gives you a sweeping panorama over the twin bays of Chalok and Freedom on one side and Shark Bay on the other, and it's one of the island's standout photo spots.
The climb is short but earns it, a steep rocky scramble that takes maybe 15 to 20 minutes. Wear proper shoes, especially since the rocks get slippery when wet. It's very doable for most people, just not a casual stroll.
The only real knock is that it gets busy at sunset. Come early in the morning for cool air and soft light, or late afternoon, and you'll get the view closer to yourself. Pair it with Freedom Beach right below and you've got a great little south-coast outing.
