About JEATH War Museum
This was the original POW museum in Kanchanaburi, a reconstructed bamboo-hut barracks stuffed with photos, letters and artefacts from the Death Railway. It's cheap and historically important, and there's real weight in seeing primary material in a setting built to mimic the huts the men lived in.
Manage your expectations on the presentation. It's dated and cramped compared to the slicker museums at the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre and Hellfire Pass. Come for the atmosphere and the artefacts, not for a polished modern exhibit.
It sits at the southern end of town next to Wat Chaichumphon, so it's easy to fold into a morning with the cemetery and railway centre nearby.
