About Doi Suthep-Pui National Park
This is the forested mountain that sits right against Chiang Mai, and it's worth it precisely because it's so close. Doi Suthep temple is the famous name, but the park around it also holds Wat Pha Lat tucked into the forest, Huay Kaew Waterfall near the bottom, Bhubing Palace gardens, and Doi Pui further up. You can treat it as a quick temple run or turn it into a full day linking several stops.
Fees changed in late 2025, so it's no longer a single blanket entrance. Certain zones like the Pha Lat trail, Huay Kaew Waterfall and Doi Pui now charge separately, while the temple and the Bhubing Palace road corridor stay free. Worth confirming what applies to wherever you're actually headed before you go.
Getting up is easy: a red songthaew or a Grab from the Old City or the zoo gets you there well within the hour. Mornings in cool season give the clearest views, since haze and cloud tend to build up later in the day.
