About Baan Dam Museum (Black House)
Think of this as the dark twin to the White Temple. It's the compound of the late artist Thawan Duchanee, dozens of black teak buildings filled with animal bones, hides, and horns. Together with the White and Blue temples it forms the classic White-Blue-Black art trio that most day tours run.
Be warned, it's divisive. Art lovers rave about it, but plenty of visitors find it morbid and a bit of an overpriced photo op. Whether it lands depends a lot on your taste for the macabre.
Go in the morning, and note it sometimes shuts over the midday hour, so time your visit around that. If dark, unsettling art isn't your thing, this is a fair one to skip.
