About Wat Saphan Hin
This one takes a bit of effort and pays you back for it. The name means stone bridge, after the ancient slate causeway you walk up to reach the hilltop. At the top a tall standing Buddha with its hand raised looks out over the plain, and there is a real sense of pilgrimage to the approach.
It sits out in the Western Zone a few kilometres west of the walled city, so you will want a bicycle or motorbike to get there, then a short climb of ten to fifteen minutes on the slate path.
Because it is off on its own, it stays far quieter than the Central Zone. The standing Buddha and the panorama are the reward. Aim for late afternoon and the sunset view over the plain; just skip the midday climb, since the causeway is fully exposed.

In the Western Zone ~3-4 km west of the walled city; best reached by bicycle or motorbike, then a short climb. From New Sukhothai ~12 km to the park first, then continue west.
