About Wat Phra Ram
An early-period temple with a restored central prang, sitting right in the middle of the old city and ringed by ponds. Tour groups often skip it in favour of the bigger names, which works in your favour: it is one of the quieter spots in the core.
The surrounding ponds are the draw for photographers. Late afternoon you can catch the prang mirrored in the water, and there is space to breathe here that you will not find at Wat Mahathat.
It is on the combo ticket, so if you have already bought that pass there is no reason to walk past it. A calm 30 to 45 minutes.
Highlights
- Restored central prang from Ayutthaya's early period
- Reflecting ponds around the temple
- Central location in the old city
- Quieter than the headline temples
- Covered by the combo ticket
Tips
- Come late afternoon for reflections in the surrounding ponds
- Easy to reach on foot from Wat Phra Si Sanphet
- Often skipped by tour groups, so it stays peaceful
- Worth including if you already hold the combo ticket
How to get there
