About Wat Maha That Wachiramongkol (Wat Bang Thong)
The star here is the towering golden chedi, the tallest of its kind in southern Thailand, rising over neatly kept grounds. It is genuinely impressive and, being way out in Ao Luek, far quieter than Tiger Cave.
The catch is the distance. This is a long detour from the main Krabi hub, so it only makes sense if you are already heading up to Ao Luek or Than Bokkharani. Building a trip around it alone is a stretch.
Go in the morning while it is cool, and treat it as a peaceful pairing with the other Ao Luek stops rather than a destination on its own.
