About Walking Street (Ko Lipe)

This is the island's main artery, a car-free lane packed with restaurants, bars, dive shops, minimarts and souvenir stalls. It runs inland from Pattaya Beach and connects everything, so you'll end up here whether you plan to or not. In the evenings it comes alive.

Be clear about what it is, though. This is a tourist commercial strip, not a traditional Thai market, and prices run higher than on the mainland. Come for the food, the drinks and the buzz, not for bargain hunting.

Time it for the evening when the atmosphere peaks and the whole street is lit up and moving. As a place to eat, drink and sort out practical bits like dive bookings or a minimart run, it's convenient and fun.

Highlights

  • Car-free lane packed with restaurants and bars
  • Dive shops, minimarts and souvenir stalls all in one place
  • Lively evening atmosphere
  • Central spine connecting every beach on the island

Tips

  • Go in the evening, roughly 6pm onward, when the atmosphere is best
  • Come for the food and buzz, not bargains — prices beat the mainland's here
  • Handy for booking dives or grabbing minimart supplies
  • It's the central hub, walkable from any beach
