About Mallika City, R.E. 124 (1905 A.D.)

A big open-air living-history village recreating everyday Siamese life during the reign of King Rama V, with period houses, markets, costumes and old-Thai food you buy using replica currency. Dress up in period clothing and it's very photogenic, which is a large part of its appeal.

Be clear-eyed about what it is, though. This is a built theme-attraction, not a genuine historic site, and it leans staged and touristy. If you go in expecting real heritage you'll be disappointed; go in expecting a fun, dress-up photo experience and it works.

It sits near Mueang Sing Historical Park, so you could pair the staged version with the real Khmer ruins. Come late afternoon when it's cooler for walking the open-air grounds.

Highlights

  • Open-air recreation of 1905 Siamese life
  • Period houses, markets and costumes
  • Old-Thai food bought with replica currency
  • Very photogenic in rented period dress
  • Near the real Khmer ruins at Mueang Sing

Tips

  • Manage expectations, it's a staged attraction, not a genuine historic site
  • Rent period costume if you want the full photo experience
  • Visit late afternoon when it's cooler for walking the grounds
  • Pair it with nearby Mueang Sing for a mix of staged and real history
