About Koh Jum (Ko Jum / Ko Pu)
Koh Jum is for travellers who want Lanta-style beaches without the development. Just north of Lanta, it has long empty beaches, a small fishing and sea-gypsy population, and a deliberately laid-back, un-commercialised feel. There's almost no nightlife here, and that's by design.
It's underrated precisely because it hasn't been built up. If your idea of a good day is an empty beach and not much of an agenda, this is your place. If you need bars and buzz, look elsewhere.
Come in the dry season, since many bungalows close in the low season. The classic way in is to take the Krabi-bound ferry from Lanta and get dropped by long-tail at the island, and in low season access shifts to a road-and-boat route via Ban Laem Kruat.
