About Freedom Beach
Freedom Beach is a soft white-sand cove on Koh Tao's southern tip, with clear shallow water that's great for easy snorkeling. It sits right at the foot of the John-Suwan viewpoint climb, which is exactly why most people pair the two into one outing.
Don't take the name too literally though. Part of the beach is fronted by a resort, so it can feel semi-private, and access fees come and go depending on how you arrive. It's pretty, but it's not the untouched escape the word 'freedom' suggests.
Come in the morning before the day-trippers show up, snorkel the calm water, then head up to the viewpoint. As a combo, it's a lovely couple of hours on the south of the island.

How to get there
From the south (Chalok Baan Kao): ~10-15 min walk over the headland, or scooter/taxi to the Haad Tien/John-Suwan car park then a short walk. ~10 min from Mae Haad by scooter.
