About Damnoen Saduak Floating Market
Thailand's most famous floating market, and I'll be honest with you: it's become a bit of a tourist trap. After around 9am it fills with tour groups and souvenir stalls, prices climb, and the authentic trading you came to see gets swamped by the show put on for visitors.
That said, it's still photogenic, a canal packed with paddle-boat vendors selling fruit, food and souvenirs, and it can be worth it if you play it right. The only way to see the real thing is to get there as early as you possibly can, before the buses arrive, when locals are still actually trading.
If you want something more genuine and less staged, consider Amphawa instead. And whatever you do, agree the price of any boat ride before you step aboard, or you'll pay tourist rates.
