About Chao Sam Phraya National Museum
This is where the treasure ended up. The gold hoard, votive tablets and Buddha images pulled from the crypts of Wat Ratchaburana and Wat Mahathat are displayed here, so if you have peered into those crypts outside, this is where you see what actually came out of them. It closes the loop nicely and gives you real context on the kingdom.
Strategically, it is also your midday move. Air-conditioned galleries are a genuine relief when the outdoor ruins turn into a furnace, so slot it into the hottest part of the day.
One thing to plan around: it is typically closed on Mondays and some public holidays. Do not build your Monday around it or you will find the doors shut.
