About Thong Sala Walking Street (Saturday Night Market)
On Saturday evenings Thong Sala's main street closes to traffic and fills up with stalls: Thai street food, fresh produce, clothes and crafts. It's popular with both locals and travellers, which is usually a good sign, and it's walkable straight from the main pier.
For my money this is the best budget dinner on the island. The food stalls are cheap and good, and grazing your way down the street is the whole point. An hour or two covers it.
Come early evening for the fullest spread before stalls start packing up. There's a smaller local food market on other days if you miss the Saturday one.
