About Sip Et Chan Waterfall (Eleven Tiers)

This is for fit hikers who actually want a jungle trek, not a quick roadside photo. It's one of the tallest falls in the park, a stepped cascade dropping through its roughly eleven tiers down the cliff face, and the walk in is a real one along the northern trail.

Set your expectations right: this isn't a single dramatic plunge into a swimming hole, it's a series of stepped tiers. The reward is as much the trek and the jungle as the fall at the end.

The trail is long and gets leech-prone in the wet, so cover up and go with a guide who knows the route. Start early to give yourself the full round trip in daylight. Flow is fuller late in or after the rainy season, but the dry-season trail is safer and less muddy underfoot.

Highlights

  • One of the tallest falls in the park
  • Multi-tier cascade over roughly eleven stepped levels
  • Real jungle trek along the northern trail
  • Fuller flow late in or after the rainy season
  • Best done with a guide from HQ

Tips

  • Start early, it's a long round trip you want to finish in daylight.
  • Go with a guide, the northern trail is easy to lose.
  • Expect leeches in the wet, so cover up and pick dry-season trails when you can.
  • Don't expect a single big plunge, it's a stepped cascade.

How to get there

From the HQ/visitor centre in Khlong Sok, a jungle trek of several km (about 4-5 hrs round trip) along the northern trail; a guide is advised.
